72 Throw Pillows to Spruce up your Couch

Reality check time.

When we first moved in to our house, we had SO many plans. Seemed so easy to just paint, replace things, decorate. We kept telling each other, “Oh, new fans aren’t very expensive!” “New carpet on the stairs won’t be so bad.” “Shelving doesn’t cost that much.” … Each thing we wanted (still want) to do, didn’t seem like it would be that much trouble or cost a ton of money. Except, we then realized we had so many “little” things that would really add up FAST.

It was getting overwhelming trying to figure out what to do next and what to put money into. We were getting so many things done, yet it felt like NOTHING was put together. Nothing was feeling complete.  I ended up asking Chris if we could just focus on one room at a time. Luckily he thought it was a great idea. We just want to get each room put together enough to feel homey, and we can always go back and add more decor & change bigger things.

First room to focus on is the living room. I have struggled a lot with where to go with the decor in this space. I love rustic/farmhouse decor. However, our living room in general doesn’t really “go” with that style. I do like neutrals, grays, whites, etc. So I’m just focusing on bright, neutral, homey. That’s a real style, right?

One of the first things I wanted were throw pillows. I thought I wanted white pillows (I still want a couple, just haven’t found any I love)… But I ended up stumbling upon some cute pillows at Target & then my son found a pillow he realllllly wanted at Kirkland’s. Not totally finished, but here’s where we’re at:

Sources: Blue & Ivory Grid Pillows – Target // Family Lumbar Pillow – Kirklands  // Coffee Table – Bought in local store, but found exact on Houzz

I love our new pillows, but get antsy when I see others that I like. It makes me want to change it all! A little obsessed I guess, but there’s SO many cute pillows out there.

Here are some of my favorite pillows from my search:

Pillows with Text
Patterned Pillows
Neutral Pillows
Bright Colorful Pillows
We are super excited to have pillows on the couch that make it feel a little more settled. I can so see myself buying some of the above pillows and switching them out though... Why do I have to be so indecisive!? (Also, how many times can one girl say pillows in a blog post??)

Now I need to start working on the mantle. Wish me luck!

Love those pillows!! We’ve had the same brown (blah) couch with matching brown (blah) pillow for almost 10 years, and I think I’ve finally convinced my husband that we should retire the couch the next time we move. I’m hoping to lighten things up with a gray couch and have some fun pillows to go with it!

I adore that corner sofa and your scatter cushions of course, especially the grid ones. Really wish we had Target in the UK. Keep up the good work! It will all come together before you know it! 😊
